Our star
volunteers drive trucks, manage our storage facility, teach workshops,
and contribute in myriad other ways to our work. We invite you
to read their stories and consider how you can become involved with
A Wider Circle.

This month's
star volunteer: Lincoln Ashe

Lincoln holds a bundle of gifts before delivering
them during our
2006 Holiday Giving Program. |
Three
years ago during the Hurricane Katrina tragedy, A Wider
Circle received
dozens of phone calls from families that relocated to the D.C.
area. We needed help to meet this demand, and
were blessed with a wonderful response from numerous local residents, including
Lincoln Ashe.
Though Katrina now feels like just a memory, Lincoln has remained
as one of A Wider Circle's most reliable volunteers.
During the week, Lincoln works as a police officer at the US
Treasury, but
every Saturday (and many Sundays) he offers his energy and strength
to serve our community. Soft-spoken and quick-witted, Lincoln
does whatever it takes to provide local families with furniture
for their homes. Often this means navigating a heavy dresser
down a narrow flight of stairs or single-handedly carrying a
sleeper
sofa off a truck. No matter the challenge, Lincoln brings a can-do
attitude and is often one of the last volunteers
to
leave at the end of the day. Lincoln's dedication to A Wider
Circle has allowed us to serve dozens more families each
year and we are grateful for all of his hard work.
