Mark
Bergel - Founder & Executive Director
Dr.
Bergel earned his BA at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois,
and both his MA and Ph.D
from American University in Washington, DC. Prior to founding the organization,
he spent many years managing and developing health and wellness initiatives.
He has extensive experience developing and implementing programs for
low-income children and adults, and is committed to guiding A Wider
Circle toward
its goal of ending poverty in our lifetime. He has lived in the Washington,
DC area since 1985.

Layne
Amerikaner - Marketing & Fundraising Coordinator
A
native of West Virginia, Layne is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall
College with a degree in Anthropology. Previously,
she was deeply involved with Oxfam and has a strong desire to serve those
in need. As an AmeriCorps*VISTA
member, she leads
A Wider Circle's development team
to reach our organization's financial goals.

Julia
Blencowe - Well Mother, Well Baby Program Coordinator
Julia
comes to us from Scotland, where she graduated in 2007 from St. Andrew's
University with a BA in Anthropology . Hired as an intern in the
fall of 2007,
Julia now leads our Well Mother, Well Baby Program. Her dedication has
allowed us to expand this program to serve more young women in the DC
area in 2008!

Erin
Cass -
Volunteer & Intern Coordinator
Erin (affectionately
known as "Ecass") joined A
Wider Circle in
2007 through AmeriCorps*VISTA. Originally from Alaska, Erin graduated
from Dickinson
College with a BA in Political Science. In addition
to managing our personnel needs, Erin assists with program development,
fundraising, and a number of other areas.

Erin Dodson -
Client Relations Coordinator
Erin
is a graduate student at George Washington University
in International Development and Public
Health. She has been with A Wider Circle since 2005,
serving in a range of areas from management to community
outreach. Currently,
Erin handles client relations for our Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program
and provides leadership in all aspects of the organization.

Julie
Kirby -
Donor Relations Coordinator
Julie
began as a management intern in the summer
of 2007. She stood out as particularly responsible and dedicated to our
work,
and at the end of her term, we simply couldn't let her leave. Julie was
hired in the fall of 2007, and now juggles a senior thesis at the University
of Maryland with managing donations for our
Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program.

Colleen
Woolheater -
Neighbor-to-Neighbor Coordinator
A
native to the DC area and a senior at the University of Maryland,
Colleen joined our team in the fall of 2007 as a management intern.
She now manages our storage facility and works with clients as
they select items for their homes. Colleen's creativity and organizational
skills allow us to more effectively serve local families in need.
