Karen Bortvedt
is a junior at the University of Portland in Oregon, majoring in Spanish and Political Science. This semester she is studying at American University as part of the Transforming Communities Program. At A Wider Circle, her tasks range from being a friendly voice on the phone and working with our Spanish-speaking clients to helping out in the storage facility and continuing our fundraising research.

Anthony DeMauro
is a junior at American University. His responsibilities at A Wider Circle include working with the School Community and Neighbor-to-Neighbor Programs. Experience as a student-athlete has helped Anthony to coordinate both physical education and academic activities as part of Davis Elementary's aftercare program. Additionally, Anthony's efforts go toward picking up and organizing the storage of household items for the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program.

Allie Handler,
currently a sophomore at American University, is a part of A Wider Circle's school team. Her passion for helping others is allowing A Wider Circle to better serve students in southeast D.C. Twice a week, she leads second-grade students in educational workshops that cover everything from art and music to history and local landmarks.

Isabella Lyle-Durham came to A Wider Circle through Bethesda Chevy-Chase High School's internship program, where she is currently a senior. Her balance of working hard at school, playing soccer, and helping the community through her work with A Wider Circle is continually refreshing. Isabella's natural leadership and communication skills have made Isabella an important part of the Wider Circle team.

Natasha Paleau
is a senior Anthropology major at the University of Maryland. This semester, she is serving as the Public Housing Wellness Coordinator, organizing events and activities in D.C. for low-income seniors and disabled individuals. Natasha came to A Wider Circle because she feels strongly about community development and outreach, and she wants to provide compassion, empowerment, and sustainability within our local communities.

Rachel Wise
is originally from Pennsylvania and came to the D.C. area to attend American University. Now a senior, she is studying political science and sociology. This semester, she is working on the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program by assisting clients at the storage facility and acting as a liaison to the community as she picks up donated furniture.
