Because of these continuing (and often increasing) needs: Enduring substandard living conditions for many in the metropolitan area, inhibiting a sense of empowerment and reinforcing poor self-esteem. High levels of learned helplessness and hopelessness among people of all ages. Over 100 volunteers gathered to build gardens, plant trees, & celebrate at a teen shelter in northeast DC.

A Wider Circle offers the following programs: Neighbor-to-Neighbor – Distribution of furniture and other home items to families moving out of shelters or otherwise living without their basic needs throughout the region. Community Outreach Campaigns – A DC Housewarming, Color DC, and Be A Fan allow us to bring hundreds of volunteers together on a seasonal basis for major projects in the metropolitan area.
