Calls for help to A Wider Circle have doubled in the past two years, and the needs of our neighbors are increasingly desperate. To meet these needs, we are committed to expanding our services. We can do this most effectively by expanding the space in which we operate.
A
Wider Circle launched the first-ever capital campaign
in the summer of 2010. Our modest goal of $250,000
was quickly met, thanks to so many of you and to
organizations such as Many Hands, Inc., which got
things rolling in the early summer with a gift of
$100,000, and to Giving Together, which provided
a gift of $20,000 as the campaign came to a close. Because
of their generosity, we were able to move ahead;
we identified and secured an additional 12,000 square
feet at our current location. In January, we will
officially grow from 9,000 to more than 21,000 square
feet.
Now, we need to build out the space to provide the most dignified and functional space we can provide for those we serve. The renovations will include:
- three showrooms where families can select their items
- an additional loft for apparel and household goods
- two “smart” classrooms where A Wider Circle will offer free life skills and professional development workshops to men and women with no other access to this type of information
- and a two new loading docks.
There is much to be done to turn this undeveloped space into a thriving center. We have extended the Capital Campaign to March 31, 2011, and we have created many ways for you to help:
1. Be a Name Sponsor of
a showroom, a smart classroom, one of the lofts, a
loading dock, or the whole center.
2. Give us Time and Materials... and do what you do best. If you can give a day to help build a room or the drywall, paint, or other materials to do it, we welcome your individual and team project work. Email volunteer@awidercircle.org for more information on this option.
3. Donate individually or as a family, team, business, or group - at whatever level feels good. Send a check to A Wider Circle at the mailing address below or donate online, using the button below.
And if you are ever in the neighborhood, we would love to show you around! |
